Dear you,

One day you are going to grow up and realize I am a total buffoon (if you don’t already know that). I know you think that I have it all figured out, I know that you are compared to me on a daily basis, but I am not who they say I am.

You aren’t what they say you are either.

You will always feel like you need help to do the things that you want to do. I want to dispel that. You are able to do everything and anything because God loves you. The day you decide to accept that about yourself, your life begins.

In fact, the only thing in this world I want for you, the only thing I can give you, is the belief that you are capable of anything you want to do, that you are responsible for the woman you become. That you are allowed to know and decide who that woman is. For the rest of our life, other women will be compared to you and it never really gets easier to separate the comparison from the truth. I just want you to know that whatever anyone says to you, it is simply untrue. Unless you say it yourself, it doesn’t have to be placed on you. The power lies in what we name ourselves. For the rest of your life, there will be people telling you who you can and cannot be. You don’t need to believe it. You don’t even have to listen to it if you don’t want to.

You’re allowed to take your time, you are allowed to step and walk your own path. It doesn’t have to look like mine. But know for the rest of your days, I will always be standing there, willing to get on your path and hold you up. I am never going anywhere (unless you ask me to).

That is the only truth you need to believe.
